★ Coronavirus 冠状病毒

此次“新型冠状病毒”的英文是 novel coronavirus。这里的 novel 不是“小说”的意思，而是一个形容词，“新型的”。WTO将此次病毒命名为2019-nCoV，以时间（2019）＋病毒名称缩写来命名。

例句：There is a novel coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. 新型冠状病毒在武汉爆发。

★ Pandemic (全国或全球性) 流行病

除了这次肺炎疫情外，历史上曾发生过的流行病还有霍乱（cholera）、流感（flu）等。

★Infected 传染、感染

例句：For an instant, I was infected by her fear. 有那么一会儿她的恐惧也传染给了我。

隔离、检疫是防止疫情扩散的有效措施。

Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. 避免跟有感冒或流感症状的人密切接触。

Thoroughly cook meat and eggs. 将肉类和鸡蛋彻底煮熟。

Avoid unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals. 避免在未加防护的情况下接触野生动物或家畜。
